Minecraft Java server installation
Ask the AI assistant to install a Minecraft Java server, prepare Java and game settings, and check startup. This plugin works through chat and has no separate tab.
Before you start
- Install and enable the plugin. Prepare an online node and empty workspace, or ask the assistant to create one.
- Use a Linux amd64/arm64 image with
/bin/sh, enough memory and disk, and access to downloads. - Your account and conversation need file, download, terminal, and service control permissions.
- Read and explicitly accept the Minecraft EULA. Only queries and planning proceed before acceptance.
Existing servers are not automatically overwritten. Plan upgrades, migrations, and world replacement separately, with a backup.
Install the server
Open the target workspace conversation, type
@, and selectinstall-minecraft. You can also specify the node and workspace in a Panel conversation first.Describe the version, server type, player count, and gameplay. For example:
Install Paper in this empty workspace. Check a suitable stable version first. Use survival mode for up to 20 players and start after installation. I have read and accept the Minecraft EULA.
Review the proposed versions, Java, memory, disk, and game ports, then complete required approvals.
Wait for installation and startup checks, then test the reported address with a game client.
The default game port is TCP 25565. Players use the node address and mapped host port. Successful installation does not prove public connectivity.
Choose server software
| What you need | Common choices |
|---|---|
| Vanilla gameplay | Vanilla |
| Bukkit, Spigot, or Paper plugins | Paper or Purpur |
| Mods | Forge, NeoForge, Fabric, or Quilt, according to the mods |
| Sponge plugins | SpongeVanilla, or SpongeForge/SpongeNeo with the matching loader |
Folia, Spigot, CraftBukkit, and Arclight need additional compatibility or build checks. This flow does not install Bedrock or proxy servers. For modpacks, see Minecraft server packs.
Java must match the selected Minecraft version and server software. Minecraft 26.1 and later requires Java 25; older servers may need another version.
Sponge plugins must match the selected Sponge API; SpongeForge and SpongeNeo also need matching Forge or NeoForge versions. Sponge scans mods/ and mods/plugins/ by default; use the directories specified by the launch configuration.
Defaults and downloads
Plugin settings default to /workspace/minecraft, 20 players, survival mode, normal difficulty, RCON enabled, and startup after installation. RCON uses a generated password and no host port mapping. Override these in your request. An existing installation record takes precedence over later default changes.
Official sources are used by default. Enable BMCLAPI downloads to use mirrors. Installation fixes the selected versions; starting the server does not automatically update them.
Common problems
- Interrupted installation: ask to continue the same task in the original conversation. Check progress before deleting or reinstalling anything.
- Java or download failure: check image architecture, required libraries, network access, and free space.
- Cannot join: check current startup logs, port mappings, firewall rules, and client version compatibility.
